Another flat finish

The market fell slightly after Japan was hit with another major earthquake and the price of oil rose above $110 a barrel. Meanwhile, major retailers reported better-than-expected sales at stores open at least a year, and claims for jobless benefits fell by 10,000 last week. Tech bellwethers, including IBM, Apple and Adobe, managed to record small gains. Seagate jumped 7.2% in after-hours trading after encouraging Q3 earnings forecast.
